Archivist and Records Management Specialist with expertise in archival description and digital preservation, currently seeking new opportunities in Barcelona (on-site, hybrid, or remote).

My background combines a degree in Humanities (Universitat Pompeu Fabra) and Art History (Sapienza University of Rome) with hands-on experience in cultural archives and heritage institutions, including Kunsthalle Bern and Photoforum Pasquart. I recently specialized in digital archives and records management through the Master’s in Libraries, Archives and Digital Continuity at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.

For my master’s capstone project, I designed and implemented from the ground up the archival management system for OVNI (Observatorio de Vídeo No Identificado), an independent research archive active since 1994 and a resident project at the CCCB. The project involved describing and publishing more than 2,100 archival units in accordance with the international archival standards ISAD(G) and ISAAR(CPF) using the AtoM platform, now publicly accessible in three languages at atom.matiasvaldesmarsans.com.

I work with AtoM, ISO records management standards, and digital content and design tools including Adobe Creative Suite and WordPress. I am a native speaker of Catalan, Spanish, French, and Italian, and I have professional proficiency in German and English.

If your institution is looking for someone to organize, describe, preserve, and provide access to its documentary heritage and archival collections, I would be delighted to connect.
